In Advent we watch and wait for the birth of God, the Savior who comes in the form of Jesus Christ. As it is a season of waiting, our church decorations remain relatively simple without the white and gold that appears with the season to come, Christmas. We celebrate Advent with the following services:
Lessons and Carols
On the Last Sunday of Advent our 10:00 AM liturgy becomes a service of Lessons and Carols with Eucharist. Based on the “O” Antiphons, this service uses scripture, choral music, congregational carols, and prayer to set the stage of the watching and waiting that we are called to do in Advent. We hear the story of the preparation for God’s coming in Christ prepare to do so ourselves.
